Francis Luz Obituary

LUZ, Francis F. Jr. Age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday August 8th, 2011 after an eight month battle with pancreatic cancer. A longtime resident of Framingham, Frank was at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Francis F. Luz Sr. and Hilda (Dias) Luz, and the devoted husband of Joyce (White) Luz, to whom he was lovingly married for 53 years. Frank was a graduate of Boston College High School and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. A successful businessman, he left the corporate world in 1981 and opened Kwik Kopy Printing in Newton, which he operated until he retired in 1999. Frank loved to travel and shared his passion with his wife and family as he visited places both near and far, including Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, the Azores, Brazil, Paraguay, Honduras, Ireland and Aruba. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and his friends. He was the proud father of four children, a grandfather of ten, and an uncle of six, all of whom will remember his endless generosity, unmatched organizational skills and lively sense of humor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Bob Luz and his wife Ann of Stow; Karen Luz and her husband Jim Ricca of Mozambique, Africa; David Luz and his wife Susan of Framingham; and John Luz and his wife Michelle of Framingham. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zack, Rebecca, Alyssa, Emilio, Ben, Sam, Will, Jack, Tim, and Catherine; his siblings Cindy of Connecticut, Jack and his wife Lorene of Washington State, and Mary Beauclair of Stoneham. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bridget's Church, 830 Worcester Rd. (Rt. 9) in Framingham on Monday, August 15th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend from the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., FRAMINGHAM at 9:15 AM. Burial will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, August 14th, from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, MA chapter,(www.alz.org/manh/) 311 Arsenal Rd. Watertown, MA 02472.
