On behalf of the family of Dr. August A. Klein, founder of The New England College of Optometry, I wish to express my profound sadness at the loss of Dr. Frank Kozol. A finer man never there was; the epitome of a scholar and a gentleman.
I thank Dr. Kozol's family for sharing him for so many years with the College where he was both appreciated and much beloved.

Neil, Sorry to here about your dad. I was lucky enough to have spent a nice evening with him at your dinner lecture last year, laughing about the old days. He was a gentleman and a gift to our profession.

Neil,
My sister-in-law, Jackie, sent me the news of your father's passing. Your dad treated me well in my teenage years, and with great respect and kindness when I'd run into him while visiting in Sharon. My thoughts are with you at this time of sadness.

I will remember Dr. Kozol as one of our most beloved professors at NEWENCO. He brought the practice of optometry down to earth and made us feel comfortable. Dr. Kozol referred to us as doctors even while we were students and asked us to call him "Uncle Frank". I remember one day he even provided boxes of cookies and treats for us to munch on while we took an exam. My sympathies to his family and he will always be remembered as a very caring individual who left a lasting impression on his students. We will miss you Uncle Frank.

My sincere sympathy to the family of Dr. Kozol. What a wonderful, compassionate man. He will always be one of the pillars at the New England College of Optometry. His passion for optometry and especially the students was remarkable. In your time of sorrow, may you take comfort in knowing how many lives he touched in such a positive way.

Dear Family,
Frank lived his life to the fullest. We hope that fact and the marvelous memories you made as a family will help ease this very difficult time.
His pride in his wife, children, grandchildren and brother made his buttons pop.
Frank's devotedness to his family, friends, colleagues and patients was exceptional.
Love,

Despite only having met Frank a couple times, he was willing to help me with diagnosis of an eye condition, and I was not even his patient. That true interest in his chosen path, and willingness to help "just because" belies a habitual pattern of unselfishness. All of our comfort to his family, especially Neil, Patti, Jonathan, and Stephanie.

To the Kozol family,
I send my sympathy to you in this difficult time. My father Bill and I both enjoyed the years we had with Frank at MSO/MCO/NECO and the years after graduation in the work force and being able to chat at many optometric meetings over the past 50 plus years. Franks loss will like Drs. Namias and Kamens, will be felt by many here in New England and further afield. Optometry has lost a great friend. Again, my best to you at this time.
Sincerely,
Tim Tolford

What can we possibly add or say for someone who was so entirely dedicated to helping others. The variety of people whose lives were touched and enriched by knowing him can not be summed up here. Suffice it to say that we are all better off for knowing him. We, his family, are comforted in the knowledge that he led a full and rich life surrounded by those he loved. We are all blessed to have such wonderful memories of him.
