Frank O'Day Obituary

The beloved son of Carol O'Day and the late Frank O'Day. Frank is predeceased by his brother Matthew and is survived by his brother Patrick of Deep River, Connecticut, sister Anne Greene and her husband Brendan of Norwell, Massachusetts, sister Kathleen O'Day of San Francisco, California, sister Tara Logan and her husband John of Exton, Pennsylvania, and sister Maureen O'Day and her husband Ernest Aarsen of Capitola, California. Frank grew up in Madison, Connecticut and graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1996. He attended Hartwick College and graduated from UMASS, Amherst with a degree in Business Administration. He worked as an account manager in software sales for Oracle in Burlington, Massachusetts, and lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Along his career path, he had also worked for Fidelity Investments and Lincoln Financial Distributors. Frank was a great son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He truly valued his relationships with friends and family, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Spending time with his ten nieces and nephews was a priority for Frankie. They loved him, not only as an uncle, but also like an older brother. Frank had an adventurous spirit and a great sense of humor. He had a strong appreciation for the outdoors and animals, and in particular, a love for dogs. He was an athlete and sports fan. He loved lacrosse especially, and more recently, he was an avid biker and hiker. Frank had goals of entering the Century Bike Ride in Tahoe to raise money for Lymphoma Research. Frank fought his Hodgkins Lymphoma head on with courage and dignity and never a complaint. He kept moving forward, doing whatever he had to do next to try and beat it. His strength and tenacity were remarkable. In lieu of flowers, Frank's family would like for donations be made to Dana Farber c/o Dr. David C. Fisher, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115. Please specify that the donation is made on behalf of Frank O'Day. Frank's funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret's Church in Madison on Wednesday, April 16th, at 10:00 a.m. The burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven, Connnecticut. A wonderful tribute to Frank has been written by his friend Roxanna Sherwood who produced an ABC Nightline special concerning his battle with Hodgkins (http:/abcnews.go.com/Nightline/story?id=4637708&page=1).

Dear Anne and the O'Day family,
I can't help think of the first time meeting your brother at a Fourth of July party in Falmouth. He was having a squirt gun fight with all of his nieces and nephews against him. All you could hear was laughter ! May you cherish all the wonderful memories you shared with Frankie.
Our deepest sympathy to you all.
Love,
The Giroux Family

Frank was an Avalon-housemate one summer. He was always laughing and being silly. I remember all the stupid nicknames he gave me, and funny voice mails. He will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
