Frank PRESTILEO Obituary

PRESTILEO, Frank Age 82, of Medfield, formerly of Merion, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 23, 2022.

Frank was born and raised in Pottsville, PA, by Vincent and Verna Prestileo where he excelled at both playing the piano and basketball. In 1958, Frank entered the Navy where his team, the Sea Raiders won the SubLant Trophy. After his discharge in 1963, he enrolled in Drexel University where he continued playing basketball. Frank left Drexel with both a BA degree as well as his wonderful, loving wife, Phyllis. Frank and Phyllis initially settled in Narberth, PA, and then Ardmore where they had sons, Mark and Jamie before his work took the family to Illinois and eventually back to Merion, PA, where they had daughter, Ashley and spent the next 42 years of their lives together.

Frank spent most of his career at the wastepaper company Gaccione Brothers/Atlantic Coast Fibers where he met many of his friends and shared some of his fondest memories. While not working, Frank continued his athletic prowess by playing basketball at the Narberth Playground, riding his bike (while singing Frank Sinatra at the top of his lungs) around the Philadelphia area, playing endless golf with his brother and friends, sailing at Sandy Pond in the summers and skiing with his family, mostly in Killington, VT. He was a dedicated husband and an unbelievable father who supported his children and eventual grandchildren throughout their pursuits. "Frankie the Shooter," as his Narberth teammates know him, was an incredibly charming soul and once you met him, you couldn't help but like him. Frank and Phyllis moved to Medfield in 2019 to enjoy a new adventure, including membership of Walpole Country Club, and being close to some family. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Mark and his wife, Holly and Jamie and his wife, Dawn; his daughter, Ashley and her husband, Brett; grandsons, Jake (21), Sam (19), and Wesley (7); his brother, Rick (wife, Lois); nephews, Rick and his wife, Elaina, Jason and his wife, Jill; his niece, Michelle and her husband, Michael.

When I read this in my local newspaper, I was immediately taken back to my days ar PHS. Frank was a bit ahead of me but we all were astounded by his basketball skills. The boys gym at PHS was so loud when he scored! Great player and apparently had a wonderful career, family,,,and life. RIP....

May Frank's love and support continue to reach his family and friends from a higher realm. May you all continue to be touched by loving memories of him. May all who are grieving his passing be comforted in knowing that he is at peace.

Thankful for knowing him and for being a recipient of his advice and support throughout my college years. Sending love and light to Ashley and the entire Prestileo family.
xoxo Lisa
