GERALD GATES Obituary

GATES, Gerald R. "Jerry" Of Quincy, passed away on September 1, 2025. Born in Boston, Jerry spent most of his childhood in South Boston before settling in Quincy. He was self-employed throughout his life, owning a successful deli and video store and later, working as a general contractor. Jerry cherished spending time with family and friends. He loved the ocean, especially fishing, and took great pride in tending to his yard and garden. Beloved husband of Marian Gates of Quincy; devoted father of Christopher Gates of Quincy and Michael Gates and his partner, Nicole Raustad, of Boston. Loving brother of Patricia Holmes and her partner, Al Mullaney, of Quincy, Cheryl Pasquale and her husband, Don, of Abington, Jimmy Gates of Quincy, Deborah Penzo and her husband, Richard, of Quincy and Brian Gates and his wife, Kelly, of Squantum. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 4-7 PM, in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Funeral Home Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jerry may be made to the Fish America Foundation.
