In our Ann Arbor (University of Michigan) days, I enjoyed tennis with Gerry and Aksel Wiin-Nielsen, both excellent gentlemen.
Now a niece, Alexis Peterson, MD (Harvard Med) is pursuing an Internal Medicine residency with plans to research Parkinson's Disease.

Just found out about Gerry's passing when I received the Drew University magazine today.
As a foreign student from Brazil you took me into you loving family's arms.
You took me to your home in Newton, MA for my first Christmas in the US.
Your family took me in as a member of the family. And that was just the beginning of a long and deep relationship.
You were my best man, when I married Diane, former UN student from Minnesota.
You and I visited my family in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Even though they did not understand English, they accepted you as a member of the family. They could sense your good soul!
Gerry, rest in peace.

Gerry was my best friend in college at Drew University. I helped him get elected as president of the Junior class. I had the pleasure of accompanying him to his family cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee one summer. I have not had any correspondance with Gerry since our graduation, but for some reason felt compelled to type his name on Google search this past weekend, only to be directed to his obituary. I feel this must be some sort of divine intervention. So sorry to get this news and wish to offer prayers and condolences to the family.

I have known Gerry for almost ten years. I was always struck by his intelligence, faith, talent for tennis, and deep love, commitment, and dedication to Bessy, Alvin, Ann, and Amy. He suffered so much at the end of his live, but now he is with God. His family is a wonderful example of the total dignity, support, and caring that can and should be shared in looking after loved ones in need. This family will always serve as mentors for me. Gerry was a great guy, wonderful family man, and fun to be around. He will be missed.
