1935 - 2025

REEN, Gertrude It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gertrude "Trudy" Reen, who departed this life on October 8, 2025, at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, MA. Trudy was the daughter of the late Timothy and Kathleen (Brown) Reen; and sister to the late Kathleen "Kay" McDonough, Jeremiah "Jerry" Reen, Eileen McDonough, John Reen and Rita Connolly. Trudy is survived by her sister, Mary McMahon of Milton; and her beloved nieces and nephews. Trudy was born in Boston, the fourth child of seven to a busy Irish immigrant household, where hard-working church-going craftsmen and women featured prominently. Trudy enjoyed being a part of the St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church community, that was walking distance from her beloved home in West Roxbury. At St. Theresa's, she was both a Eucharistic Minister and a proud member of the choir. Trudy took delight in visiting museums and area relatives in her silver PT Cruiser, and also enjoyed her many trips to such places as Australia, the Holy Land and Jerusalem. Trudy, however, mostly cherished her family trips to Ireland. Amongst her many charitable passions, Trudy fondly spoke of her Thursday mornings, volunteering at Casserly House in Roslindale, teaching English to immigrants during her first twelve years of retirement. She will be most remembered for her steadfast care of her parents as they aged, and how she fondly celebrated her brothers and sisters and her twenty- five nieces and nephews. Her final wish is for all of us to, "Be kind to one another and keep God in your lives." Family and friends are welcome to Celebrate Trudy's Life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132, the family will receive guests from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, also at the church. Burial will follow immediately at St Joseph's Cemetery, 990 Lagrange Street, Boston, MA 02132.
