Gisela Hogan Obituary

84, died on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Scottsdale Health Care in Arizona after a short illness. Gi was born in Nurnberg, Germany in 1922 and immigrated to the United States in 1929 with her parents, grandparents and older brother. The family settled in Andover, MA, where she attended Abbot Academy. She matriculated at Bryn Mawr College, outside of Philadelphia and married Daniel E. Hogan in June of 1942. During her early years, Gi was an avid horsewoman, golfer, and skier. After her divorce in 1966, she moved to Paradise Valley, AZ, where she lived for the rest of her life. She summered for many years in Bass Rocks, Gloucester, MA. She also devoted time to the Salvation Army in AZ. She was a devout Evangelical and regularly participated in Bible Classes at her local church. Gi is predeceased by her former husband, Daniel E. Hogan. She leaves her brother John Bolton, Jr. and his wife Ines of Osorno, Chile, her three children, Daniel B. Hogan of Cambridge, MA, G. Barrie Landry and her husband Kevin Landry of Boston, and David S. Hogan of Phoenix, AZ, along with 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call on Friday, Sept. 21 from 9-11 AM at the Charles F. Dewhirst Andover Funeral Home, 33 Pearson St., ANDOVER, MA 01810. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. The Burial will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery at 124 Abbot St. in Andover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Corps, either at 250 Haverhill St. in Lawrence, MA 01840 or 1625 South Central, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
