GREG SHARRIGAN Obituary

SHARRIGAN, Greg James Age 67, of Maynard, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Carol Anne (Bianchi) Sharrigan. Greg was born on September 6, 1953 in Newton to the late John and Theresa (Collins) Sharrigan. Raised and educated in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School class of 1971. Greg and Carol married on May 20, 1977 and settled in Maynard in 1978 to raise their family. Greg worked as an electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 40 years, retiring in 2011. It was important for him to stay busy - from working as a handyman for his friends, family - really anyone who needed him; teaching 3rd-graders how to ski for five seasons at Nashoba Valley; to helping his friend Dave Hunter with his new business Dyhydromatics. Greg was a friendly outgoing person who loved children and always made time to help others. He loved hosting family and friends for neighborhood New Year's Eve parties and other occasions. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and camping. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 130 with his two sons for many years. Greg had a passion for speed. From a young age, he enjoyed watching and participating in car racing and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of The St. Moritz Tobogganing Club since 1998, and made yearly trips there to participate in the sport and reconnect with friends. Along with his wife, Carol, he is survived by his sons, Ethan D. Sharrigan and wife Kelsey of Seattle, Jason W. Sharrigan of Arlington; sister, Eve Hamlin and her husband Sam of Ipswich; and many nieces and nephews. The family is expecting their first grandchild. We invite you to memorialize and celebrate the full and colorful life of Greg Sharrigan. Let us remember the giving person he was and the unique life he led, not from a place of sadness but from joyousness as he would have wanted. The event will be held outdoors at the Maynard Rod & Gun Club on Friday, September 10, at 3 p.m., with remarks at 4:30. Come as you are - casually dressed and fully vaccinated - ready to enjoy catered food, drinks, and music with Greg's friends and family. Bring a hard copy of your favorite photo (or photos!) of Greg to add to our photo montage. Unfortunately, we lost most of our photos due to the fire, but we'd love for you to share yours with us. Please send digital images to [email protected] Donations in his memory may be made to MA ASPCA, 350 S Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 or Greater Boston Food Bank, 70 S. Bay Ave., Boston, MA 02118. Arrangements under the care of Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, MAYNARD. To share a memory or offer a condolence, visit: www.fowler-kennedy.com

I was sad when I saw the obituary for Greg in the Globe. I remember Greg very favorably many years ago. I was Greg's math teacher at Watertown High School. I wish I could come up with some specifics from those days but he made a positive impression on me. I think a good friend of his was Bob Arsenault but I never know if the same relationship remains after graduation. I give my deepest sympathies to his wife ,,and his sons.

I am shocked and so sorry to learn of Greg's passing. He did electrical work at my home in Maynard on several occasions a few years ago but I remember him vividly--he was such a pleasant, interesting, and engaging person and such a pleasure to speak to. Carol, Greg was a great person. In these last few years of being with him at family gatherings I got to know Greg and found how easy it was to love him. I had a great respect for his ideals and knowledge. Linda and I will miss Greg very much. My grandson Griffin also thought quite a lot of Greg. We are all deeply saddened buy his loss and wish you our deepest sympathy. All our love, Ricky, Linda, and Griffin.

I always remember Greg with a dog in his lap and a big smile. This old, blurry pic captures that memory!

Met Greg around 1999 while walking our yellow lab, Bailey in the neighborhood. Since, we have crossed paths many times and shared our love of our four legged friends (he was so kind to our aging chocolate lab, Bosco). I enjoyed meeting with Greg on late night, cold wintry walks with our best friends. Conversations were always thoughtful, usually humorous and kind. Make the best of every day.

God, we will miss Greg. Never met a more even tempered and friendly person. I see how he touched so many lives in such a good way. Wish we had more time with him. We send love and prayers to my cousin Carol and the boys. Love to all who have been affected.

Dearest Carol, Ethan and Jason - My deepest condolences to you and family. I have so many fond memories of earlier, happy years! Awesome Halloween parties, Samuri movies at Coolidge Corner, and of course the young, awesome couple who bought their house from me when I was green'. I am honored to call you my friends for life. Hope fond memories of such a wonderful person, that always brought a smile, will help during this tragic time. Love always- Nancy Quinn
