HAMZEH KARAMI

KARAMI, Hamzeh "Jim" Of Brewster, MA, died peacefully at home on Monday morning, at the age of 84. He was a longtime resident of Massachusetts; born in Abadan, Iran, and the sole member of his family to immigrate to the United States in 1964 seeking a better life. He attended Memphis State University and Southern Illinois University where he attained a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. This propelled him forward on an exciting career in wound care products and woven/non-woven absorption polymer research, which would take him to Belgium and then back home again to the United States through various positions at Underwriter's Laboratories, Colgate Palmolive, Kendall Healthcare Products Company (Tyco International) and most recently, Director of Research and Development at First Quality Healthcare Products. An avid patent writer, quiet thinker, and tinkerer of things, he was most importantly, also a loving husband and caring father. He valued family, honesty, and education most. He enjoyed travel, downhill skiing, tennis, biking, watching the Boston Celtics play, discussing politics and worldwide events, pizza and Persian food, visits to the beach, and listening to music. He is survived by his wife Angela Karami of Orleans, MA; his sons James A. Karami of Northboro, MA, and Kristophe J. Karami of West Linn, OR; along with his brother Ibraheim "Ebi" Pourzamani of Tehran, Iran; and other extended family.
