HARRIS BASEMAN Obituary

BASEMAN, Harris Isaac It is with great sadness that the family of Harris Isaac Baseman announce his passing, on April 26, at his home in Chestnut Hill, MA. He was 91 years old. Harris grew up in Arlington, MA and attended Bowdoin College. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School and practiced transactional law at Bernkopf, Goodman and Baseman in Boston where he was a partner. Harris was a man of great intellect, many talents and evolving passions. One of his greatest talents was making each of his five daughters feel as if she was his favorite. He thought deeply about world problems and believed he could solve many of them if only the right people would listen to him! He loved spending winters in St. Croix, where he snorkeled and challenged his daughters to spot a barracuda. Summers were spent on Cape Cod. He bonded with friends on the golf course. He loved all music, especially big band. He was a lover of all kinds of mysteries, most notably Agatha Christie, which he sometimes read in French to practice his less than formidable skills. Most of all, he adored his wife of almost fifty years, Peggy. In his retirement he authored five books. Harris is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Baseman; and his five daughters, Karen Baseman, Elise Chadwick, Susan Cogdell, Alix Aguilera and Kate Lupo. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m., at the Forsyth Chapel, Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Avenue, Boston, MA. Donations in Harris' memory may be made to Rosie's Place, 889 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118. Stanetsky Memorial Chapel 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA 617.232.9300 www.stanetskybrookline.com

I first met Mr Baseman in the early 70´s when I was an aspiring real estate guy. HIS firm, BGB, was the top in the field and he became something of a mentor and when, years later, we reconnected at the Needham golf club I was able to give him a couple of swing tips. A great intellect and gracious man. I´ll miss him

Harris will be sorely missed by SO many: his HUGE family , relatives and longtime friends. Peggy and I go way back to the 70´s and then with my late husband we enjoyed many WONDERFUL times together as well. He was a very accomplished bright caring Honest man who led a very full life with his gorgeous wife, Peggy , and ALL five daughters and their respective families.

In our last conversation on the phone he told me the best way to live was with moderation in all things. I knew him as a caring father and loving husband. The best. My heart goes out the entire family and I feel privileged to share part of my life with them.
