HAZEL ENRIGHT Obituary

ENRIGHT, Hazel Rebecca Age 91, of Calabash, NC, formerly of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday February 8, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Framingham, MA on July 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles Montana and Maria Garfield Montana, and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Enright; one sister, Doris Polley; and three brothers, Robert, Chester, and Kenneth Montana. Hazel graduated from Framingham High School in 1942. She then graduated from the New England Baptist Hospital as a registered nurse and worked at the Baptist for over 40 years. Hazel baked cookies for all her grandchildren during their college years; later she became known as "Cookie Lady" for her love and dedication of the United States troops in Afghanistan, sending baked cookies as a show of her

support and promoting others in her community to continue her work. She loved to play cribbage and other card games. For the past six years, she lived in the Calabash area and was very active in the community, playing golf and bridge. Her entire family treasures her knitted Christmas stockings. She loved most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving family: Janice DuBose and husband Chris of Bellingham, MA; Joyce L'Heureux of Ventura, CA; Kenneth Enright and wife Katherine of Dedham, MA; Jane Escott and husband Steve of Calabash, NC; and Keith Enright and wife Carmela of Calabash, NC; 15 grandchildren: Julie Medose and husband John; Megan FitzPatrick and husband Keith; Scott Enright; Amrit L'Heureux; Dharma L'Heureux; Courtney Aronson and husband Matt; Sam Enright; Peter Nelson; Cam Nelson; Geoffrey Escott and wife Jaime; Michael Escott; Jill Escott; Jamie Hull and husband Isaiah; Arielle DePace; and Susan Enright; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Brunswick Plantation Calabash, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. March 6, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 360 Water Street, Framingham, MA. A reception will follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her memory to: the New England Baptist Hospital or your favorite veteran's charity. Hazel was not only a great cookie baker, she was a great card sender. Although we were beyond the circle of extended family, she drew a wider line and welcomed us in, sending a birthday, anniversary, graduation, and assorted congratulations cards to us exactly on time. And when our children came, they got added to the list for celebratory mail, too. She kept the US Post Office in business and made us all feel very special.

A beloved member of our bridge group, Hazel will always be remembered with smiles. She had a generous nature and a quick wit. She sent her cookies to our son-in-law while he served. She never forgot him - though she never even met him. Love to the entire Enright family. Pat and Bob Comtois
