DUNPHY, Helen Loretta Helen passed away peacefully in Kirkland, Washington, on March 26, 2009, after a long illness. Born September 29, 1923, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of Anna and Steven Kataska, Helen graduated from Somerville High School in 1942 and worked as a secretary in Boston. She married Warren Dunphy and the couple settled in Hampton, New Hampshire. Together they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his passing in 1983. Helen relocated to Kirkland, Washington, in 1992. Her life was characterized by her steadfast love of family, her deep inner strength, her vivacious personality, her generous and fun-loving nature, and her close and long-running friendships. Helen is survived by her sister, Bernice Barkevich; children, Cheryl, Paul and Warren Dunphy; son-in-law, Dwight Davis; grandchildren, Sean Casey, and Greg and Anna Davis; and great-grandson, Liam Casey. Helen's daughter, Loretta, preceded her in death in 2004. We invite Helen's friends to join us in a celebration of her life to be held on Saturday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m., at the Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center Chapel, 12822 124th Lane NE, Kirkland, WA.
