Dear Anne and Family,
I knew Hank for many years through one of his many community commitments, this one to The Friends of Hemlock Gorge Reservation. It was a terrible and unexpected shock to lose him. He was a pillar of our efforts to preserve and protect this parkland. He was unfailingly generous with his time and wisdom. His smile and unfailing equanimity will sorely be missed. Much of his work with us is memorialized in both text and pictures on our website, and we hope it will bring you some solace to visit there. May he rest in peace.

Hank always brightened our day when he stopped by the Charles River Watershed Association office. He was one of our most active volunteers, always full of ideas and happy to help with anything that was needed. We will miss him!

Dear Anne and family,

We are so sorry and saddened to learn that you, and we all, have lost your dear Hank, one of the kindest family- and community-oriented persons we have ever met. In conversation one always felt the focus of his attention, no matter how large the crowd. In his rare, wonderful way, Hank exemplified and gave away life's best gifts of caring and service. He inspired us. We surely will miss him and the way you all were as family together.

You are in our thoughts and prayers as we share your loss. We send hugs as close to Hank's patented style as we can make them.

God bless you all.

With deepest sympathy,
Margo and family

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Hank's death. He was one of my favorites! I had a long talk with him at the October Wellesley Club meeting and had no idea it would be my last contact with him. He gave so much to us all and will be missed.
