Hank was one of the good guys in Somerville. Always there for my family in trying times. Probably knew him from the late 50s when I was a teenager, and saw him, again, in the late 90s in Dunkin Donuts, Magoun Square, Somerville, MA. He was walking out the door as I was walking in; we both did a double take. He turned around and called my name, and I did the same. We went back in and talked for quite awhile. My husband had passed away and I had two daughters in college. He asked me if I was doing okay and if I needed anything. Same ol' Hank. We had the luxury of growing up in Somerville when it was okay to walk down the square at 10:00 at night, or leave your keys in your car, of your doors unlocked. He was one of the beat cops who kept us safe. My entire family, my 11 siblings, my mom, everyone loved Hank. He is sadly missed.

To Hank's family, please accept my heartfelt condolences and also the condolences of a lot of my friends that are no longer with us, as I am sure they would think I was remiss if I didn't include them.
God bless you Hank. You were quite a guy. Growing up in Somerville, on the hill, offered a lot of challenges. I remember over 50 years ago when you walked the beat on the hill. You were fair and honest. Not afraid to give a kid a break. Some of us turned out better than others, but all that I know that came in contact with you,
benefited one way or another, and I never met anyone that had a bad word to say about you. Thank you for being our friend back in the day, for your service to our country and our city, and for truly being one of Somerville's finest.
So long pal. RIP you earned it.
