To the Phillips Family, The beach is just not going to be the same without Herb. I'm going to miss seeing him walking the streets daily, our chats when he had the time to stop and talk, and his persistence in dues collection. He was a wonderful, caring man and will be greatly missed by many. My condolences to all of you.

Dear Kappy & Family,
Sharon & I were deeply saddened when we were informed about Herb's passing. As a
long time fraternity brother, we became
closer as the years passed by. In just one
year, the same day that we celebrated our
marriages, 60 years will have gone by. We
will never forget how you, Herb, Sharon &
I spent our honeymoons together in Bermuda.
Herb was the wonderful human glue that
kept the fraternity friendships active over
all these years. We will miss him more than I can say. We're sorry we cannot be
at the funeral today, but our thoughts
are with you.
With love,
Mickey & Sharon Weiner

Herb was a roommate of mine at Bowdoin College. Over the years we kept in touch either by personal visits in Florida or Massachusetts or by telephone.
He ws a very successful, talented attorney who had a formidable work ethic. What impressed me mostly about him was his humility and modesty. I never heard him boast about any of his accomplishments in serving as Class Agent or his philanthropic achievements. What he had pride in was his family-wife, children and grandchildren. When I spoke to him earlier in the week he was writing thank you letters to people who had helped in launching his legal career. May you rest in peace, brother. Neil Alter

Dear Phillips family,
Our parents where huge fans of Herb. They adored him, respected him, and laughed with him. He was their tax consultant as well as their friend and golf buddy. We had only heard of the many stories of how great Herb was until the passing of our parents in the last two years. Then we finally met Herb as he helped us with the estate. The stories of Margery making him fabulous meals to freeze for him so he was taken care of while she was away. He would laugh and tell us about all the great people he works with or took care of him. A true gentleman. Although we only new of him for a few years he was someone special. So sorry for your loss.

Dear Phillips Family,
We are so sorry to hear about Herb and regret that we cannot be with you on Sunday. Sadly, we have to attend the funeral of a cousin tomorrow at the same time. Please know our love and thoughts are with you. Herb meant so much to all of us, especially to Jerry who relished their long friendship since their days at BU Law School. Herb was always someone Jerry could count on and I hope somehow they are now together again in spirit.
May your wonderful memories of Herb ease the days ahead. He was indeed so very special to every member of our family.
With much love,
Joan, Geoffrey, and Rose Lewis
