NAKATSUKA, Hisao "Hank" In Brookline, President of Boston International Travel and Vice Chairman of Japanese Association of Greater Boston passed away at the age of 71. Hisao was born in Okayama, Japan, as the youngest child of Hidenosuke and Sakiko Nakatsuka. Hisao graduated from Asahi High School in Okayama and Keio University in Tokyo, one of Japan's prestigious universities, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked for FUJIFILM Corporation after graduating from college and came to Boston as the factory manager in Bedford, MA in 2004. Hisao retired early after having worked at FUJIFILM for 36 years and purchased a local travel agency in 2009. He stated its reason as he loved Boston too much. With his devotion and tireless work, the Boston International Travel grew to become one of the most successful travel agencies in Boston. Hisao embraced and appreciated the volunteerism culture in the US and showed his appreciation himself by dedicating his time helping the community as a community leader. He was the Chairman of the Japanese Association of Greater Boston for 4 terms in 8 years until he passed his baton to the current Chairman, Mr. Ken Moriguchi, in 2019. He also served as a leader for Japan Festival Boston in 2012 and 2013. To inspire young students, particularly high school students in Japan, to study overseas and expand their world was the personal mission for Hisao. He created and successfully ran many educational programs. He was also known as an avid sports fan and always supported Japanese athletes whenever they played in Boston. On February 11, 2022, Hisao passed away from a lung cancer after a courageous battle. He is survived by his children, Ayako and Yuichiro, and grandchildren, Ryan and Seiichiro. A small private Service is planned for February 18, 2022, followed by cremation on February 21, 2022. It was Hisao's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Japanese Association of Greater Boston, 792 Mass Ave., Arlington, MA 02476.
