Dear Dr. Bloom,
As you know, Professor Bloom has been a tremendous friend and mentor throughout my life. I am so happy to have known her - she was always patient, kind and caring. Professor Bloom is definitely the most gracious and graceful professor I have had at Columbia. We are so happy to have been able to share some fond memories together during our visit last May. I only saw the news today and wish we could have extended our condolences earlier. May God be with you and your family.
Blessings, Angela Wan and John Liu

Dear Dr. Bloom,
I took Professor Bloom's class -- Oriental Humanities -- during my last semester at Columbia (21 years ago). She was such a vibrant and generous teacher, full of enthusiasm and kindness.
Earlier this year, we purchased her recent translation of Mencius and read it with our oldest child.
Your wife certainly embodied the Confucian paradigm of the gentleman (gentlewoman), who influences others by example from afar.
We extend our condolences to you and your family.

Dear Dr. Barry Bloom, Your wife was such a treasure and transformed my life. She taught me Oriental Humanities at Barnard when I was 23, I am now 58. I think often of her classes and her kindness to me and how much I learned from her. I met you through my husband, Stuart Shapiro, a few year ago.
