I will not forget Leo McCarthy. As a newcomer both to Jamaica Plain and to the U.S., I saw at once that the Arnold Arboretum needed to reconnect with the community. Leo was one of the first to offer a helping hand - both kindly advice and the odd stern comment! I reckon we did pretty well during those years thanks to people like Leo, people who wanted to see Jamaica Plain a better place, with all of us playing our part. And, to a surprising extent, we succeeded. Leo, I dont know whether you can hear me up there (though I think you can): I just want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you again.

Mr. McCarthy,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

My condolences to all the McCarthy children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

I have wonderful memories of Leo as a neighbor when I was young, as an "uncle" always, and, together with Barbara, as a great and loyal friend of my parents Tom and Margaret Cavanaugh.

Dear David, On behalf of the entire Rothschild family, we express our deepest sympathy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything we can do for you during this diffucult time please let me know. Bonnie spoke often of your dad. Although I never had the chance to meet him I know he had an esteemed career and his legacy there will live on. In deepest Sympathy, Joy Rothschild
