JAMES DEYOUNG Obituary

DeYOUNG, James Gregory April 19, 1932 - April 27, 2021 Age 89, beloved husband of Margaret E. (Kelly) DeYoung, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Naples, Florida.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Herbert and Catherine (Smith) DeYoung. James and his seven siblings, Herbert, Robert, George, Ronald, Francis, Edward, and Carol, grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts.

He proudly served his country in the Korean War, 1950-1953, receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines at the end of his tour. James was also a proud member of Local 103 IBEW for 64 years; as an electrician, his career took him coast to coast working across the country.

James married the love of his life, Margaret (Kelly) DeYoung, and they shared 64 years of a beautiful marriage. Together, they raised their three children, James DeYoung, Anna Dykens, and the late Kevin DeYoung, in Melrose, Massachusetts, spending summers in Wells, Maine and winters in Naples, Florida.

Jim lived life to the fullest, always traveling with friends and family, boarding cruise ships, and occasionally testing his luck at the nearest casino. Every fall, he looked forward to the football season and would always be found watching the New England Patriots.

Above all, James cherished his family. He loved being a grandfather, always attending games and sporting events of his grandchildren, and especially loved being a great-grandfather. He was a man of great faith and honor, and will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his loving wife, Margaret E. DeYoung. His son James W. DeYoung and wife Jean DeYoung, his daughter Anna M. Dykens, his four grandchildren, Shawn DeYoung, Lauren Marsh, Daniel DeYoung, and Melanie DeYoung, and his two great-grandsons Chase DeYoung and Cameron Marsh. James is further survived by his brother Edward DeYoung and wife Kathy DeYoung, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

James is forever in our hearts and will be fondly remembered as the loving patriarch of his family.
