Gately Funeral Home - MelroseGabrielle E. Doto, age 38, of Swampscott, formerly Melrose, Massachusetts, passed away on March 28, 2026, after a hard fought and courageous battle with lymphoma. She faced her illness with strength, grace, and tremendous heart, surrounded by the love of those closest to her.
Gabrielle dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Case Worker with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Her work reflected who she was at her core — compassionate, selfless, and deeply committed to helping people through their most challenging moments. Caring for others wasn’t just her job; it was her calling.
Above all else, Gabrielle’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to her beloved son, Kayden, who was the center of her world. She is also survived by her loving parents, Marty and Karen Doto; her sister, Vanessa Myers, and her husband Ben; her cherished nieces and nephew, Vincent and Julianna, whom she adored; Grandfather John Luongo; dearest friend and aunt to Kayden, Maria Pastore; As well as her partner Deshawn Huston who’s life will never be the same without her. She was well loved by her aunt Constance Doto and partner Debra Ciardello, aunt Marie Finn and aunt Deborah Luongo and many cousins, and friends who’s lives she touched.
Gabrielle was predeceased by her grandparents, Salvatore and Raffaela “Lou” Doto of Medford, and Josephine Luongo of Medford, and uncle Peter Finn, all who loved her very much.
Gabrielle will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering strength, her generosity, and the deep care she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through her son, her family, and the countless lives she touched through her work and love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the countless nurses, doctors, and staff members of the Tuft’s Medical Center who provided exceptional care during Gabrielle’s battle with cancer.
Gabrielle’s love, spirit, and compassion will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
In leu of flowers the family encourages donations to the Carin MacLean Foundation for mom’s fighting cancer. Donations can be made online at carinmacleanfoundation.org/donate or mailed by check to P.O. Box 81, Seekonk, MA 02771.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10:00AM. Relatives & Friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
