JAMES DOYLE Obituary

DOYLE, Dr. James P. Following a full life raising four healthy children into adulthood, being an inseparable companion to his wife, & treating his patients with honest reassurance, Dr. James Doyle passed away on the early morning of December first. He died at home in his sleep at 77, following a challenging year claimed by dementia. Born in New Jersey in 1943, Jim met his wife of forty seven years, Pamela, in a spark-filled moment of love at first sight. Together they raised Adam, Vanessa, Hudson, & Nicholas in their welcoming Brookline hilltop home. After medical school, Dr. Doyle became one of the first practitioners of acupuncture in the area in the early 1970s. At his Newton office managed by Pamela, Dr. Doyle saw thousands of patients, giving each his full attention. He listened to those under his care. He listened to his friends. He listened to his kids. He listened to passersby while on vacation. Jim listened. When he was needed, he showed up. Jim maintained his home with his own two hands, while Pam fed everyone who walked through the door. Jim & Pam biked to work year round, rain or shine. He collected curb-side bike parts, rebuilt them, & gave them away. He loved motorcycles, birds, time in nature, & his wife's cooking. Jim managed to overcome prostate cancer & a broken neck, recovering from both with gratitude. Jim Doyle was a source of wisdom, well-being, levity, & acceptance. We are grateful for having been his family. Funeral Service and interment private.

Jim lived life to its fullest
he had this playful charm
and wisdom
I remember when we
were so young
That Porsche he drove
He looked so cool
Jim was very hip...for his time

I remember when
I first met Hudson
and I thought
there is a lot of the farther
in the son

Jim, you became immortal
Immortal
By the qualities you passed
to your children
That part of you
will live on for many,
many generations

Jim, you were my friend
and I will miss you
truly

I just found out today that Jim had died. He was an extraordinary person, he touched so many of our lives. Jim gave me my first job at CMS in Newton, working in the clinic with Dr. So. We visited Jim and Pam
At there home a few years before he died. He was a kind and compassionate soul that touched so many of our lives.

I just found out last night that Jim Doyle died three years ago, and I couldn´t stop sobbing because even though our presence in each others life was sporadic, I know that there was a true friendship there.

Jim Doyle is one of the finest people that I´ve ever known in my life. His sense of presence was unequaled. Period.

I met him as a client first
&
Then the conversational flow between us took shape very soon afterwards.

I remember one night in particular, when we went together to listen to John Bradshaw (in the large Prudential auditorium) who was a specialist and prolific writer in the addictive science movement.
To attend a talk about Sobriety next to man with analogous spiritual Clarity was just wonderful, and energetically indescribable.

I´d like to offer my condolences to Pamela Doyle, and Adam Doyle, and the rest of the family who had the privilege of being so close with this man, and given the suffering that I felt last night, just learning of his loss, also want to express empathy for what it must´ve be like for them missing him.

God bless you, Jim, and good travels for wherever You might be
radiating your Enlightenment.

With love & friendship,
Robert M. Lax

James was an inspiration to me, one of the first Acupuncture/Integrative offices in Boston. We shared the same teachers, months apart in Nanjing China. I’m grateful for the path he forged, and was grateful for his healing nature. Rest In Peace
Love and meta to his family.

Here's a family picture from a few years ago. We miss my dad for the great memories we had and the loss of future moments together. But we take comfort knowing he's in a place of peace. As a husband, father, doctor, and friend he lives on as a role model of decency and kindness.

RIP Jimmy. I can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to practice my profession at Comprehensive Medical Services. You lived a life in service to humanity and for that you should be commended. You will be sorely missed.

I’m really a total stranger who just read the obituary, having been drawn to his wonderful photo. Just want you to know that I was moved to tears by the description of this wonderful-sounding person. I am so sorry you’ve lost him. I know the feeling.
