FELDMAN, James "Jim" Michael Of Dedham (formerly Newton), James Feldman died on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at age 91. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Jim attended Shadyside Academy. He earned a BS, MS, and PhD in electrical engineering and semiconductor physics at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Jim then joined the faculty at Northeastern University (NEU), where he taught thousands of students, wrote two textbooks, and conducted extensive research on materials for transistors, as well as operating systems and middleware design. In the last decade, Jim took on managing the Electrical Power Systems program. Jim met his beloved wife of 67 years, the late Sara Kallins Feldman, at CMU at a Jewish Fraternity party and was immediately smitten. He was 21 and she was 20 when they married. Jim was adventurous and always on the move – skiing, technical rock climbing, hiking, flying, soaring, tennis, whitewater canoeing, kayaking, surfing, convincing his loving bride to join him in nearly every passion. Jim biked 100 mountain miles through Franconia Notch with younger family members to celebrate his 80th birthday. In May of this year, while Jim was in remission from acute myeloid leukemia, he proudly noted that he was walking 5 miles daily. The ultimate jock, Jim, even walked over 2.5 miles daily the week before his death. Jim was a leader at Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), running the academic campaign for 15-20 years, and he helped establish the NEU Hillel. Jim and Sara shared a deep love for Israel and spent three sabbatical years there, making lifelong friends. Together they hiked the country from end to end. Jim even placed fourth in the national downhill skiing championships on Mount Hermon. Most of all, Jim treasured family. For over 3 decades, family shabbats with grandchildren anchored the week. Jim was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Appel) Feldman. Jim is survived by his brother, Wally Feldman (Cecily); his children, Lynn Segal (Mickey), Henry Feldman (Lori); and his grandchildren, Raphael (Laura Weiss), Rebecca, and Yoni Segal, and Rachel and Joshua Feldman. Remembrances may be made in Jim's memory to CJP. Levine Chapels, Brookline 617-277-8300
