Ode to the Reale family.

To day is a sad day for us all. The remembrance of a great man we will never for get. People knew him as a father, brother, uncle and friend. He was all of these to me. I would like to share with you some of the most treasured memories that I hold in my heart. When I speak of a…..
Friend he was just that. Some one to talk to he had an open ear, mind and heart. I remember being at uncle Jimmy and aunt Ruthie’s house it was Thanksgiving time. We had just finished a meal that seemed to go on forever. When you think you are full here comes aunt Ruthie or one of the sisters giving you more mash potatoes, gravy, even the turkey after you have just finished your second helping. We could cover our plates and take them away, but food always managed to pop up. And finally when you’re about to bust the sisters would clean off the table. And the first thing would be uncle Jimmy unbuttoning his pants rubbing his belly. And all the while before you knew it your watching the foot ball game scratching his back and telling him your problems.
A brother not only did he love to watch football, he loved to play with his son and nephews. Some times the girls if they wanted. The boys really didn’t like it, but he stood up for us like he did for his sisters when needed to. He would always challenge us trying to stop him. With some cuts and bruises he would say, “Ruthie we were just having fun.” There would be times we had to stop not because of Uncle Jimmy, but because some one else got hurt. He was a strong man and he taught us how to be strong too. Not with just our muscle, but with our mind.
A father to Jimmy and Chrissy who where and are his beloved children. Teaching them to be the best they can be. With morals, respect, love, compassion, and understanding they are the light that reflects who he was. Like on weekends we would go up to see papa and nana (James and Virginia Reale the brother and sister’s parents) the cousins would play with Jimmy and Chrissy, sliding down the stairs having a race to see who would when. Of course little Jimmy thought we were too immature and yea he was right, but we didn’t care. Sliding down those stairs getting rug burn on your bum was the best fun ever even to this day. (I even taught my children how to slide down the stairs at our house in PA.) All the parents would tell us to stop or we would get into trouble, but we didn’t care until uncle Jimmy caught us. He gave us a warning and if we didn’t stop he would scold us….. We kept going. Laughing thinking we’ll just be sneaky. Until one of the cousins slid right into him and boy did we get it. At the time we didn’t know it then, but he was just protecting us keeping us safe and behind the discipline was love, compassion and everything in between. This is what he taught.
I saved this last because he was very special to a special person. Her name is aunt Ruthie Reale. You where and are uncle Jimmy’s wife and best friend. You have been together for a very long time. Your love blossomed as time went on. Having two kids and now a grandson. It is because of your love that you had for one another that got you through the bad times and treasured the good times. It is during this horrible time that you will take the love that you have between you both and use it to give you strength. To over come the pain you feel and use it to bring the joy you have in your life. I only hope that others and my self can follow in your foot steps to find and keep the true love that you and uncle Jimmy had and still have. These are simple thoughts, simple words not only to share with you the Reale family, but to share with friends how much he meant to us. We love you and never forget that uncle Jimmy is with us always in our hearts.

Love your niece
