JAMES A. SCHUH

SCHUH, James A. Newspaper reporter, Boston lawyer, sailor, music lover SCHUH, James A., of Cambridge, formerly of Brookline, died November 14, at home. He was 72: Jim loved watching live music and sailing with a strong southern breeze. He traveled widely, first with a pack, then with a camper van with his wife Susan and their sons Jackson and Jesse. Jim led his family on hikes in Canada, along the Welsh coast, through the Lake District, across Scandinavia and around Acadia National Park. He loved being on the ocean, kayaking and sailing in Duxbury, Maine and Florida. Jim always had a book nearby. He was a non-fiction reader of subjects from Ancient Greece and the American Revolution to biographies of rock and blues musicians. Music filled the house whenever Jim was home. He maintained a famous record collection beginning in his early teens. Jim's musical foundation began with Bob Dylan, The Beatles and The Beach Boys, with a side of blues and 1960s rock 'n roll, and sprinkled with Americana on top. Jim was born in Boston, and grew up in Wellesley. He graduated from the Noble and Greenough School, the University of Wisconsin in Madison and the Boston University School of Law. Jim worked as a newspaper reporter in Wisconsin and Massachusetts. He practiced law at several Boston law firms, and taught Reporting and Media Law at BU's School of Journalism. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Jean (Kennedy) Schuh. In addition to his wife and sons; he leaves his sister, Joanne Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Jim had a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh. He always was true to himself and his principles-hard work, honesty and integrity. Jim sustained strong friendships throughout his life. Talking to these special people comforted him in the last year of his life. Visiting Hours: There will be no service.
