I am so sad to hear about Jims passing. I call him Sweeney. I met him in 1989 working at Aetna and we were fast friends. I went to so many Red Sox games with him and hung out after work at various bars. He was super smart and a wonderful, sweet, loving person. He will always have a place in my heart.

Jim was one of those rare people, that you just know from your first conversation that they are going to be one of your best friends. I have so many fond memories of hanging out with Jim. He was always good for a laugh. We would sing, tell the same bad jokes, or wax about everything from baseball to the human condition. I will always remember his smile and wit, and will carry him with me till the bitter end. All of Jamaica Plain will miss you sir. Go Spurs! Love you Jim Sweeney!

I was sorry to hear about Jim's passing. We worked together at a couple of law firms, but the best times were spent just hanging out with Jim. One of those times was when we went to a Red Sox , Yankees game. Many others would have been killed for such a show of support for the Yankees, but Jim was too good for people to hate him. My prayers are with you all.

Jim you were a great friend and classmate. I got to know you at Marist, but our friendship really became great at St. Peters. I wish we had stayed closer over the years. I will always remember you as having the greatest sports trivia mind of anyone! It was great trying to stump you.

The Irish have a saying, "we're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time". Your days were cut so tragically short, I hope you could say when you were checking in upstairs that you had a good time down here! RIP Jimbo!

Jim - you were grand. And gone too soon. Near 60 years of mind pics have been swirling about the head. Sunday mornings standing on the Old Bergen Rd corner watching the crowds go by with running commentary. I see the Risk board with all of us around from freshmen years to not so long ago - tossing favorite lines with cold cans hoisted between and during the rolls of die. I remember a kind friend looking after me when my mom passed. The talks about politics and books and much in between speed by. Meals and pints and pool and shuffle board with other old friends. All appreciated. More anticipated - but ... My thoughts are with your family and friends. You brought much joy and care to all their lives. My beliefs say we'll catch up down the road and remember, when last we spoke I said: "Sweeney - take care and we'll talk." Indeed. First round on me.

You will be missed very much. You were a great friend who i looked up to. I will never forgot the constant debates regarding the Yankees vs Sox, Leafs vs Bruins and off course the Giants and Pats. You were more family than friend
