JANE CHEN Obituary

CHEN, Jane T. (Ma) Age 92, passed from this life, on August 28, 2024, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Born in the city of Shanghai, China, Jane lived a life marked by her steadfast independence and a profound devotion to her family. After obtaining her high school diploma from Somerville High School, Jane furthered her education by earning an Associate's Degree from Bentley College. Jane's professional journey was distinguished by her 21-year tenure at the Gillette Company. There, she was not only well-known and respected throughout the company and its divisions, but also made significant contributions, such as mentoring co-op students from Northeastern University and being instrumental in the implementation of a new computer system. She retired with honor in 1987. Jane's love for her family was unparalleled. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews all found in her a source of unwavering support and affection. Her hobbies, which included knitting, crocheting, quilting and walking were sources of great pleasure for Jane. Mourning her departure while celebrating her legacy are her daughters, Judy Cedrone of Ashland, MA, Elsie Eiges of Rolling Hills Estates, CA and Irene Chen of Santa Monica, CA; her sister, Alice Ma Hu of Brisbane, CA; and her cherished grandchildren, David Eiges, Lauren Eiges and Darren Cedrone. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Chen; her brother, Hamilton Ma; and her sister, Grace Ma Hsi. In accordance with her wishes, Jane was laid to rest in a private service at the Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery, in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Her life, characterized by diligence, love and the joy she found in her family and work, will be held in fond remembrance.
