JANE REIDY Obituary

REIDY, Jane Mary (Bulkowski) 72 years young of Cotuit, died peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday, June 24, 2017 surrounded by the love and prayers of her husband Charlie, and her four children, Sharon, Kevin, Michael, and Kim.

Jane grew up in Abington. She and Charlie enjoyed wonderful years together in Norwell, Boston, and finally, Cotuit, a village that they both loved. While raising their four children, Jane went to Emmanuel College and graduated with a degree in Studio Art. To do that she commuted daily into Boston from her home in Norwell. On the weekend she graduated from Emmanuel, Kim graduated from Notre Dame Academy and Kevin graduated from Boston College. It was one wonderfully happy and busy weekend. Jane was the beloved wife of Charles Reidy, and they were married for one day short of 51 happy, exciting and love filled years. She was the loving mother of Sharon Miller and her husband Eric of Fribourg Switzerland, Kevin Reidy and his wife Jennifer of Norwell, Michael Reidy and his wife Jennifer of Hanover and Kimberly Bush and her husband Brendan of Hanover. She leaves nine spectacular grandchildren, Samantha, Isabelle, Marc, Connor, Alicia, Michael, Gavyn, Ethan, and Hannah. She always had time in her life for her grandchildren and they all will have their special memories of their Grandma/Nana Mits. She is also survived by her brother John Bulkowski and his wife Wendy of Delaware and their two children, Brian and Julia. Jane and Charlie also spent many happy hours enjoying life with David and Pat Reidy and Russ and Jean Reidy.

For a number of years after college, Jane had a studio with the 7th Floor Artists in Rockland. She worked in many mediums and loved the process of turning an idea or emotion into something beautiful and meaningful. Her art was never to sell but was an expression of her love of beauty and texture. She loved the earth, its feel and the beauty of growing things. Her yard was always filled with flowers and the vegetable garden she planted this spring will provide for friends and family later this summer. She volunteered her time and services for many causes that were special to her. For over 10 years she cooked for the Noah Shelter/St. Joseph Home in Hyannis. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and a patient teacher to her family. From cheerleader, to coach, to teacher, to official family photographer for all special events and moments, she lived her life for her family. She loved to travel and over the past 12 years, Jane and Charlie spent a month each year visiting the world. She visited nearly 50 countries from Africa to New Zealand and saw the great museums of Europe, the Pyramids, Petra, Machu Picchu, Easter Island, the Galapagos, Ephesus, Angkor Wat, the Great Barrier Reef, the Serengeti during the great migration, and other places she never expected to see. She loved it all. A special trip was her trip to Poland to trace her family roots and praying in the church that her Mom was baptized in when she was a baby.

Jane had a wonderful community of friends in Cotuit and in the New Seabury area. She loved to play golf and hated to lose but made us all play by the rules. Jane and Charlie had special times together, alone and with family, at Dowses Beach, especially later in the afternoon when the crowds were all gone. It was a special place for her and Charlie.

There will be a Memorial Visitation at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 3 Job's Fishing Road in Mashpee on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. The flowers she planted and cared for in her yard will serve as a beautiful memorial to her. In lieu of any flowers at the Church, anyone wishing to make a donation in her memory can do so to Gosnold of Cape Cod, 200 Ter Heun Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540. Or you can perform an act of unexpected kindness in her memory to anyone you know and love.

Today I delivered meals for Jane's cooking team 3 to St. Joseph's home in Hyannis, MA They were very sad to hear of Jane's passing. As I called each member of her cooking team, they all expressed such sadness of losing Jane. They couldn't do enough this month and I think it was because they all wanted to honor Jane. I did not know Jane well, only through meetings of the captains of the cooking teams. My impression of her was one of "that is one spunky lady full of life, who is accomplished and very smart". My heart aches for your loss.

With deep sympathy,

My deepest condolences to your family during this most difficult time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who passed on are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15) Please take care.
