JANE EAGER ROW

ROW, Jane Eager 90, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, surrounded by family, music and laughter. Jane was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada the only child of Levack Mine superintendent Frank Joseph and Florence Davidson Eager. The family later moved from remote Levack to Sudbury, Ontario and Frood Mine. Jane was 1938 Ladies Junior Golf Champion of Ontario. At 16 she entered Smith College, earning a BA with honors in 1943. After her father's death, Jane and her mother moved to Belmont and Jane worked as a war effort computer at Harvard's Underwater Sound Lab. She earned an MA at Harvard in 1949, taught chemistry and math at Concord Academy and later taught math at Fenn School and Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. In 1952 she married Harvard classmate and fellow Canadian Ronald Row moving to Lincoln in 1953 where they raised five children and two grandchildren. Jane was a Girl Scout leader, METCO and student exchange host, volunteer driver for the Council on Aging and taught English as a second language to MIT wives. Through St. Anne's Episcopal Church she made sandwiches for Rosie's Place in Boston until shortly before her death. Jane is survived by Ronald, her husband of almost 61 years; their children Katherine, of Malibu, CA; Elizabeth of Arlington, VA; Mary (Winston) Gravely of Richmond; Frank (Deedee) of North Reading; Gordon (Leslie) of Groton; grandchildren Jennings and Jake Spangle; Heather and Ronnie Otero; Kelsey and Delaney Row; Harrison and Eva Gravely; and Tristan and Georgia Row. Visiting hours Friday, May 17th from 4 to 8 PM in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER. Funeral Service Saturday, May 18th at 10 AM in St. Anne's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 147 Concord Road, Lincoln. Interment Lincoln Cemetery.
