JANET MEAGHER Obituary

MEAGHER, Janet S. 56, of Bow, N.H. passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at home surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 18, 1957 in New Haven, CT. She was the daughter of the late George E. Slye and Susan M. Mayer (formerly Slye). She grew up in Wayland, Massachusetts, where she was a competitive diver in her youth and played tennis and was a cheerleader, graduating high school in 1975. Janet subsequently graduated from Boston University with a BFA in design. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart Robert J. Meagher, and the couple moved to Houston, Texas, where Janet worked for several graphic design studios, and where she won an award from the New York Art Directors Club for her work. After a number of years in Houston the couple settled down in Bow, where she worked for an advertising agency in Manchester and her husband worked as an attorney. Janet continued to work as a freelance artist in the graphic design field while raising her three children. She was a proud citizen of the town of Bow and took pride in her involvement with many different organizations. One of her favorite activities in town was observing sunsets with her husband and children over Turee Pond behind Bow High School. Most often you could find Janet walking the woods with her black lab, cheering at her childrens high school and college sporting events, playing tennis at the local courts, skiing at Mt. Sunapee, or corresponding with friends and family remembering birthdays and anniversaries, or just sending a note to cheer someone up. Janet had a zest for life. She loved her family deeply, was a fierce protector of her children, enjoyed the company of many friends, and carried a sincere concern for those around her. Her children will always hear her clap and cheer as they continue in life to honor her memory. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Meagher; daughter, Alison S. Meagher, of Dallas, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Haley and Michael T. Meagher of Dallas, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Jaimee and Daniel J. Meagher of Dallas, TX; sister and brother-in-law and their children, Robin S. and Steven, Sam, Dan, Katie and Matt McNutt; brother and sister-in-law and children, Jill and David M., Dayton, Jack and Thomas Slye; brother and sister-in-law and their children, Paul E. and Heidi, McCabe and Sam Slye; and stepmother, Suzanne Slye; all of whom she loved dearly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 12 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton St., Concord. Reverend Peter Hey will officiate. There will be a reception following the ceremony at the Bow Community Building, 3 Bow Center Rd, Bow NH 03304. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in Janets name to The Norris Cotton Cancer Research Fund, Office of Gift Recording, One Medical Center Drive, Hinman Box 7070, Lebanon, NH 03756. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements. To view an on-line memorial, go to www.phaneuf.net

Heaven just inhereted another amazing angel in Janet. I'm so glad we reconnected after all these years through our wrestling sons. Who knew she'd end up wrestling with cancer...I will miss my friend and my favorite "Scrabbler"... May the Lord be with you and your family, now and forever. xoxo

I had the pleasure of spending my grade school years with Janet, and always appreciated her kindness and warmth. Her smile and laughter are still vivid in my mind. We recently connected on Facebook, and I'm grateful to have had that opportunity. I know her loss is great, but her light is too bright not to be shining on all of us. Thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.

Janet was a beautiful ray of love and positive life. She was a true loving cousin who always gave of herself to others. I loved my summer visits to Wayland and the Cape and being with her.

The Loo Family is so sad to see such a bright light leave us, even tho we know she is shining in heaven. Her cards always made me laugh and I tried hard to find equally ridiculously funny cards to send back. She and I talked frequently about how we treasured our family and I could see from the love shared in your home that you all treasure each other. We want you all to know that we are here for you, happy she was in our lives, sad to let her go. Love, Mileva, Eugene and kids
