Dear Family, I'm so sad to hear today about Jay's death, and I send my love to all of you. He was always such a warm and genial presence, with his special humor and hearty hellos. And it was especially heartwarming to see his great love for Ruthie and his pride in his boys and Raquel, so evident at the family seders we've shared. xo Lisa Pemstein and family.

I believe "formidable intellect" may be an understatement. However I'll always remember Mr. Gordon for his kindness and grace and loyal friendship. Both of my parents recall the Gordon family's welcoming embrace when they were newcomers to Framingham in the mid 1950s, and the many kindnesses they bestowed through the years that followed. His strength and love of life really were inspiring, and truly will be missed. Joel Millman
