JEREMY WEIR

WEIR, Jeremy Educator, Banker, Family Man, Community Supporter Of Beverly, passed away, at Beverly Hospital on May 12, 2025, after a brief illness, at age 80. Jeremy was a man of integrity, conscientious in all his endeavors. Friends knew well his ready sense of humor and his kind and helpful ways. Jeremy was born on November 8, 1944, in Abington, PA, the son of Walter Weir and Kathryn (Ternan) Weir. He graduated from Duke University and then taught secondary school at Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, PA and Gould Academy in Bethel, ME. Jeremy transitioned to a career in banking, first as a trust officer at First National Bank of Boston and then as manager of the Closely Held Business group at BankBoston's Private Bank. He later joined Management Planning Inc., a business valuation firm, as Vice President of Sales for Boston and New England markets. In addition to his professional work, Jeremy was a dedicated cast member of Le Grand David Magic Company at the Cabot Cinema in Beverly, MA. He was a member of the troupe from its first show in 1977 until the final curtain closed in 2012. Jeremy never fully retired. In 2017, he accepted a position as Facilities Manager at the First Baptist Church in Beverly. This was a role he filled ably and enjoyed fully until the end of his life. Jeremy was an unpretentious man with simple tastes. He enjoyed music of many sorts, from "the boys" - the Rolling Stones - to BSO concert performances. He liked to observe stars and planets in the night sky, and used his smart phone to receive notices when the space station was passing overhead. He was delighted that technology also allowed him to identify the calls of birds he heard. Jeremy was an avid reader and he practiced meditation regularly. Being with his family was one of his greatest joys. Whether celebrating a holiday or taking a walk around the block, he relished family time. Jeremy was the beloved husband of Barbara Brann-Weir, his wife of 50 years; and the proud father of two children, Colin Weir and his wife, Adrianne (Hoffman) Weir of Boston and Meredith Loomis and her husband, Alex Loomis of Beverly. He was "Pop-Pop" to two cherished grandchildren, Charles Weir and Madeline Loomis. Also surviving are Jeremy's siblings: Christopher Weir of Boston, Karyn Weir of Grosse Pointe, MI, Brenda Weir of North Wales, PA, Walter Weir (Deborah) of Lafayette Hill, PA, Victoria Zalegowski of Johnstown, PA, Catherine ("Chi") Cornwall (Stanley) of Mattapoisett, Gurnee Barrett of Greenville, TN, Amy Paoletti (Joseph) of Sellersville, PA, Shekinah Rae of VA and Andrew Rae (Jessica) of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Maria Lourido Weir and Margaret ("Maggie") Weir; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Jeremy was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Anthony Weir of West Palm Beach, FL and Stephen Weir of Wentworth, NSW, Australia. Jeremy will be deeply missed by his family and all whose lives he touched. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on September 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Beverly, 221 Cabot St., Beverly MA. Friends are welcome to join the family at that time to celebrate Jeremy's life.
