Jeswald W. Salacuse

SALACUSE, Jeswald W. Jeswald W. Salacuse, renowned academic and expert in international negotiation, arbitration and law, died on July 25, 2024, in Boston, surrounded by his family. He was age 86. Salacuse was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus and the Henry J. Braker Professor of Law at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. He also served as Dean of The Fletcher School, as well as Dean of the SMU Dedman School of Law. Salacuse held a J.D. from Harvard Law School, a B.A. from Hamilton College, and a diploma from the University of Paris. He traveled and lectured widely, and served as a consultant to multinational companies, government agencies, international organizations, universities, foundations, and foreign governments. He also authored many books on international law and negotiation. Salacuse was known for his mentorship, leadership, art of storytelling, and his love of family and a good Italian meal. He is survived by his wife almost 58 years, Donna; his children, Bill and Maria; his daughter-in-law Glenora; his son-in-law Michael; his grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Miles and Olivia; his nephews, Matthew and Adam, their wives, Laurie and Stacie, their children Maiya, Violetta and Charlie; and his cousin Marianne Jacobbi. Salacuse. He also leaves behind his childhood friend, John Biasucci. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the St. Cecilia Parish in Boston. A Burial will be held at Saint Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. Remembrances may be made through contributions to The Gliobastoma Foundation.
