Jill Ann Lythgoe, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness.
Born on April 27, 1946, in Superior, Wisconsin, to Gerald F. and Marion F. McGill, Jill lived a life rooted in compassion, service, and family. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior in 1964 and earned her degree in Social Case Work from St. Scholastica College in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1969.
In 1970, she married the love of her life, Delbert, and together they began a journey that would span 55 years. As a dedicated military wife, Jill helped relocate their family across the United States and Europe, always meeting the challenges of each new chapter with resilience and grace. Wherever they landed, she found ways to support her family—working as a social worker, child care provider, substitute teacher, and insurance agent.
After retiring in 2009, Jill dedicated herself to helping others through her work with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at her parish. She was especially passionate about conducting home visits and mentoring volunteers, always guided by her deep faith and generous heart.
Jill is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gerald McGill, and her sister Colleen Repaal.
She is survived by her beloved husband Delbert; their children Jennifer (Al) Roos, Dana (Patrick) McGuirk, and Kenneth (David) Lythgoe; their grandchildren Zach (Jacquelin) Roos, Justin (Alexis) Roos, Annica Roos, Brenna McGuirk, Mattie Roos, Sean McGuirk, and Devin McGuirk; and great-grandchildren Linus, Otto, and Felix Roos. Her legacy of love and service lives on through each of them.
