I am sudden to learn that Jody passed. I am not certain why I remembered her now, Sep 2024, and looked up her name hoping to say hi and share many exciting news about my career. I used to work at the San Juan hub of UPS in Puerto Rico.
I had just graduated from a Bachelors in business and it was my first experience as a supervisor Jody was the Operations Manager. She was always sweet and nice, and I have very good memories. Sadly, I had to leave, but I always loved the people I worked with. What I remember the most was that she was the big boss, my manager's boss actually. Yet, she knew everyone by name and even a part-time customer service representative could approach her and call her Jody. I remember the times we talked and how sweet and pretty her eyes were. One funny event was that we were all in a hotel entertaining some guests that came from Louisville Kentucky. She asked me to make sure that one of them enjoyed the trip and the guy wanted to find a store in San Juan. I remember telling her, casually, "I hope he is tired so we won't be out all night, I want to go home plus I am not sure I have enough cash" and she gave me money, which I returned, for "just in case".
I never get to tell her that I completed a Master's in Business like her, a Juris Doctor and attorney. And, a USAF Commander, and that after more than 30 years I'm still married to the same woman I married when she approved the annual leave for my honeymoon. May the Lord take into consideration the many people she helped, and my humble prayers, and Grant her Eternal rest. Tony (as Jody called me)

Jody was very special to me as well. Our trips to the Espirit outlet in SF to reward me for good grades to skating at the Capital park and so many other wonderful memories. As a child she helped my mom raise my brother and I. It was hard to lose touch with her in my teenage years through adulthood. We were super close. I still wish that I couldve been apart of her life in my adult years. I am super grateful that I got the opportunity to share life with her. Always missed, never forgotten!

Jody and I and several other HBS students spent just about every evening for one academic year together analyzing cases. We also shared our personal lives and how lucky we were to be at HBS. Jody's mind was sharp, she had a great sense of humor, and a great sense of style. More than anything, she was incredibly kind. I think often of Jody although we did not have contact after HBS and was greatly saddened by our loss. Of course, you (Annette and all of Jody's family) are all in my prayers.

Jody, this is heartbreaking news. The last time I saw you was right before you left for Harvard.
We became friends in our early twenties. I remember a lot of laughter...It was so easy to be your friend.
I loved your bright mind, your humor, your sense of style & always your kindness.
You taught me to look at the whole picture before making a decision...Still working on that!
Sounds like Paris was a favorite & you traveled all over the world.
So wonderful to know...You found love & an amazing life.
I feel fortunate that you touched my life.
Sending love to your family & friends.

I spent the summer of 1989 living with Jody in Connecticut when we both worked at UPS. She was a terrific friend and I have always wondered what she was up to. Now that it is too late, of course, I wish I had kept in touch. I am deeply saddened to hear that she has passed away. Sincerely, Illysa

Jody was a friend when we were in high school at St. Francis in Sacramento. She was always kind, smiling and a quietly brilliant student. It saddens me to know she is gone. But it makes me happy to hear of all the good she did for the world while she was here. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones at this sad time.

Dear Annette,
I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Jody. I cannot imagine how difficult this has been for you, her family, and friends. Though I have not seen or spoken with Jody for years, it seems like only yesterday that we were working together at Gillette/P&G and my memory of her is strong.
Jody was a kind, bright, fun, and stylish person. What a joy she was to work with at Gillette/P&G. She created an environment of collaboration and trust that allowed people to be creative and thrive. I will truly miss her.
Warm Regards,
Bob Barney

Jody set a profoundly remarkable example for me. She was a successful female leader in the corporate world, but more than that, it was the WAY she led that I will keep with me-- she was poised, thoughtful, intelligent, principled and above the fray, and strong. I will miss her influence, but aspire to these qualities in my career. We will miss you Jody.

I have had the absolute joy and pleasure of supporting Jody and the leadership team at athenahealth in facilitating their leadership retreats over the years. Jody always brought a huge smile to my face - she had a way of greeting me that made me feel like I was exactly the single person that she wanted to see. She embodied a calm, quiet, tour-de-force as a powerful yet gentle leader who was always thinking about how to strengthen her team and support her employees. All of us a New Angle Consulting will deeply miss working with Jody, and yet, we are so grateful to have had the joy of spending time with her. Rest, dear friend.

Annette, I worked closely with Jody for four years at athena. Of course, she was a very successful executive, but what made her stand out was her integrity and genuine caring for the people she worked with. Jody managed to be loyal to the company and its objectives while always being faithful to her conscience and the individual needs of the people she got to know. Too often, when those elements conflict, leaders in Jody's position default to an expedient "company" position. Jody always took the time to explore alternatives that displayed her true self - a belief that individuals mattered.
I'm very sorry for your loss and hope you are comforted by beautiful memories.
