DR. JOEL SOLOMON M.D.

SOLOMON, Dr. Joel MD North Easton - Dr. Joel B. Solomon, age 83, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on May 3, 2021. He was the loving husband of 48 years to his loving and committed wife Susan P. (Philbrick) Solomon. Born in New York, New York and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Jack and Florence (Klapper) Solomon. Dr. Solomon graduated from James Madison High School, New York City, and continued his education at Columbia College with a B.A. He furthered his educational studies graduating from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, New York City. He served his internship with Fifth and Sixth Medical Services, Boston University at Boston City Hospital. Dr. Joel had numerous medical affiliations with various boards, hospitals and Universities, including the American Board of Medical Examiners; Assistant Resident in Medicine, Fifth and Sixth Medical Services, Boston City Hospital; Senior Assistant Resident, University of Colorado Medical Center; Instructor in Medicine, Denver, Colorado; Fellow in Gastroenterology, University of Colorado Medical Center; Gastroenterologist with the Malcolm Grow USAF Hospital and also becoming Chief of Gastroenterology, Camp Springs, Maryland. A member of American Board of Internal Medicine he was a professional & skilled Gastroenterologist both for Brockton Hospital and the former Cardinal Cushing Hospital, and in 1969 with his partner, Dr. Burton Sack started Rheumatology and Gastroenterology Associates in Brockton. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, Boston University Medical Center; the attending physician ant Boston VA Hospital; a member of American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty of Gastroenterology; Director of Medical Education, Brockton Hospital; Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine; Consulting Physician, Boston VA Hospital; Clinical Professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine; Gastroenterologist Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton; Consulting Gastroenterologist, New England Sinai Hospital, Stoughton and Gastroenterologist at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center. Dr. Joel had several of his studies in publication throughout his 50-year career as a physician was the recipient of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care outstanding physician award for notable achievements and extraordinary sustained performance in delivering excellent health care. He was sought out as a valuable teacher, mentor and friend in the medical field. He was a resident of Easton since 1973 and was an avid reader. Joel will always be remembered for his heart and his intelligence. He gave both to his patients, friends and family. To help was his greatest gift. In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by his two children, Julie C. Solomon of London, England and Mark A. Solomon of Massachusetts; a stepson, John Philbrick Barratt of Easton; a grandson, Joseph O. Davies of London, England; a sister, Sandy Rosenberg and her husband Ira of Florida; a nephew, Brian Rosenberg of New York and a cousin, Kathy Solomon of Oklahoma. Memorial visitation will be held at the Kane Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte. 138), EASTON on Friday, May 14th from 4 to 7 pm.
