Dear Eleanor and family,

With deep regret and sadness my brother Richard called to let me know of the passing of John.

I will always remember John with

his smiling face, good common sense

and his decency of character.

The last time I saw John we were

all at a jazz club in Boston. He had come into town with my Father and the two walked into that small

dark crowded club and blew the place

away. Two elderly gentlemen in a

population of younger listeners who arrived like "senior senators" imparting wisdom, knowledge and warmth. Mature in there winter skins but without a doubt the hippest dudes in the room. As we sat at the bar John told me that life with Eleanor was perfect and how happy and proud he was of his children and grandchildren.

At the end of the evening I realized as these two old guys walked off to the parking lot unafraid of the city, bolstered with a good dose of jazz and friendship,on their way back to Melrose, how lucky they

where to have come so far together and how lucky the Harris' are to have John and his family in our lifes.

With love, Joyce Harris-Soucier
