John C. Baimas

BAIMAS, John C. Of Eastham, January 21, 2012. Husband of Angelica (Anastos) Baimas of Eastham. Father of Philip J. Baimas and his wife Maureen Kearney and Carol C. Baimas and her husband Anthony J. George; all of Hingham. Grandfather of Lianna Baimas-George, Maria Baimas-George and John G. Baimas. Brother of Irene Kiamos of Greece and the late Cynthia Baimas, Paul Baimas and Kiki Pananos. John was born in Fitchburg and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in WWII. He was a graduate of Harvard, Fitchburg State, and Tufts universities. He taught Latin at Fitchburg High Shool where he coached winning Latin teams for many years. He also led that city's bilingual education program. He was a Fulbright scholar and spent a year in Greece teaching at the University of Economics in Athens. He retired to Eastham where he spent many happy years with Angelica enjoying the beach and their family. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A funeral service will be celebrated on Weds.at 10 AM in St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common St., Braintree. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
