DUFFY, John "Jack" Age 80, of Andover, MA, passed away surrounded by family on January 3, 2022. Born in Boston to the late John and Mary (Sallenger) Duffy on September 23, 1941, he lived in Brighton until his marriage to Mary Theresa Smith ("Dolly") of Allston, MA. After high school, Jack attended St. John's Seminary for a year before realizing that this was not the correct path for him. He enrolled at Boston College, graduating in 1963, with a degree in Economics. Although he was offered a fellowship at the University of North Carolina, he turned it down to marry Dolly. They left right after their wedding for their new home in New York, where Jack had accepted a job as a computer coder with IBM. Jack would remain in the computer industry, working at Digital Equipment Corp for many years, before taking his final job as Manager of Management Information Systems for the Sisters of Saint Joseph, for the final years of his career. His family always found joy that he was so happy at this job and that he was so loved and appreciated by the whole congregation. As successful as Jack's career was, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted husband to Dolly for 57 years until her death in October of 2021. They were a perfect match, sharing their love of a life full of family and friends and simple pleasures. He was involved in every aspect of his children's and grandchildren's lives, attending events, offering a ride, delivering bagels, hosting a cookout poolside. He considered Dolly's family as well as the families of his daughter and sons-in-law to be his own. They are all certainly hoping that someone becomes as great as hosting a gathering as he was! Jack had a wide circle of friends and loved to speak of all his great memories of time spent at Scituate Beach, in the Bahamas and with his card group. His dry humor brought a smile to many. Jack will be held tightly in the hearts of his children, daughter Theresa and husband Paul Petrie, son John and wife Carey Duffy, daughter Kristen and husband Andy Pelletier, daughter Andrea and husband Patrick Finn; as well as his grandchildren, Arianna, Daryl and Jack Laurenza, Matthew, Katie, Alyse and Trace Pelletier and Gillian and Ryan Finn. They hope to carry on his legacy of selflessness, loyalty, and kindness. Jack leaves his sister Joan Duffy, CSJ, sister Clare Duffy and her husband Russ Anderson; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Maureen and her husband Frank Broderick. Visiting Hours: Calling Hours will be held at the Conte Funeral Home, in Andover, MA, on Saturday, January 8, from 10-11:30am. A Funeral Mass will follow at noon, at St. Augustine's Parish, also in Andover. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Lazarus House,
