DR. JOHN FLAHERTY

1941 - 2015

FLAHERTY, Dr. John Of Cambridge, MA, formerly of Baltimore, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the age of 73. He was born on September 25, 1941 in Albany, New York. He received a bachelor's degree in engineering from MIT and an MD degree from Duke University Medical School. John worked as a cardiologist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital for many years and later in the pharmaceutical industry as an executive and researcher. John will be greatly missed and will be remembered for his kindness, genuineness, sense of humor, delight in his family and friends, and love of sailing and traveling. He is survived by his wife Lois, his brother Paul, his sons John, Mark, and Keith, daughters-in-law Mira Kautzky and Lisa Flaherty, and granddaughters Hazel and Ruby. A Funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 5, at 11:00 am, at St. Cecilia Parish, 18, Belvedere St., Boston, with Rev. John Unni, officiating. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 4, from 4-7 pm, in the John C. Burns & Sons Funeral Home, 305 Broadway, Cambridge. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the American Heart Association, MIT or St. Cecilia Parish in Boston.
