HALLINAN, John Thomas Of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Hanover, MA, passed away at the age of 80 on October 8, 2022. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Nora Marie (Whiffen). John was the son to Helen Patricia (Sullivan) and Thomas Augustus Hallinan of Stoughton, MA. He was the loving father of Kristen Margaret Hallinan of Hanover, MA, Karen Marie Halpin of Weymouth, MA, and her husband, Walter, and Jay Hallinan of Wethersfield, CT, and his wife, Elizabeth. He was the loving grandfather to Declan Hallinan, Liam Halpin, Kieran Hallinan, Ronan Halpin, and Nora Halpin. John was the dear brother of the late Michael (Mickey) Hallinan and Denise Bronsdon. John was a graduate of Stoughton High School where he received a full football scholarship to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. John was a graduate of Northeastern University where he received a professional degree in engineering. John worked as an electrical engineer for over 40 years for Teradyne, Co. of Boston, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute of Falmouth, and Advanced Instruments of Norwood. John later retired to Port Charlotte, FL, where he enjoyed visits from his family. John was an avid football fan. He loved sailing. He placed great importance on education. He enjoyed many hobbies such as model airplane building, drawing, painting, musical instruments, and reading. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of services and flowers, the family asks that donations be made online to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in memory of Nora and John Hallinan. Cremation With Care
