Jim, I couldn't agree more...
He used to cook up such an incredible Thanksgiving meal, but one in particular, stands out still... He put place cards out, for the guests; he thoughtfully acknowledged my Wine knowledge/ accomplishments. It made me feel important; like I belonged.

He was a dignified man, with strong moral character. Truely, a man worth looking up to.

Sincerely, Uncle Alan

There is not a day when I reflect on BC High, Holy Cross or BC High football that I do not think of John Hanley. He was the best because he cared about people no matter how unimportant they were or who they were. He was always a warm friend I looked up to. He was a great lesson to us all on how to live, how to care and a leader.

As a junior, always one year behind John at both BC High (including football there) and at Holy Cross, his family and friends need to know and most of all, remember, what an inspiring leader he was both on the field and in the corridors. He and Butch Toland and others on the Boston City Championship Team of 1953 at BC High, will always remembered, especially John, for his character, integrity and respect he brought to himself and all he met.
Sincerely with Prayers for his Soul,
Jim Mackey '55 BC High and '59 Holy Cross

Great and caring man. Always made me feel like I was apart of the family. Great cook too!

He's most certainly resting in peace. ... especially now that TRUMP is no longer in office.

God bless us all!

John & I were on the BC High '53 City Champions football team. John was a great leader and inspiration to sophomores & juniors like me. When I saw him at Holy Cross, he greeted me so well & became true upper classman friend. His career as a pilot, real estate developer, husband and father were what I would expect from the young man I knew at BC High and Holy Cross. A great man! I am truly sorry for your loss. John took me home on a weekend since l was far away from home. We went fishing in the bay, caught a flounder and his Mom pan fried it for lunch. We had lots of fun as described by Blackie Shea. My sincere sympathy to all. Dave.

John was a very special person with whom I became great friends at Holy Cross Senior year to relax after dinner, we would play cribbage before hitting the books. Of course, only on the nights he wasn't sneaking home to to see Jane O'SHEA . I will always cherish his friendship and his kindness as shown to his blind room-mate for four years I will see him again with the good Lord. Dr. Richard J Shea Milton '58
