JOHN F. HILSON

HILSON, John F. Of Holbrook for more than 57 years, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on January 2, 2015 after a long illness at the age of 85. John was born in Boston and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was an elevator mechanic for over 40 years (most recently with Thyssen Krup Elevator) and was devoted to the International Elevator Constructors Union, Local 4 of Boston, having served on its Executive Board and having attended many national conventions as an elected delegate. After retirement he ran a company, H&H Providers, with his good friend Roland Hulstrum ("Swede"), which provided recertification classes for elevator mechanics. John loved NFL football and the Patriots. He also enjoyed summers at Lake Winnisquam in NH with his family, taking many enjoyable trips on his pontoon with his wife. Beloved husband for over 60 years of the late Margaret "Peg" (Cullinan) Hilson who passed away less than a month ago. Loving father of Margaret A. Gallagher of Ashland, John F. Hilson of CA, Robert P. Hilson of Norwell and Marie L. Hilson of Holbrook. Devoted brother of the late James Hilson, Dorothy Evans, and Mary Proctor. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin St., (Rte.37), HOLBROOK until 9:15 AM on Saturday followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Holbrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
