KEENAN, John R. "Scrapper" Of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville. January 3, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Gauley). Loving father of Terence Keenan of CA, Wayne Keenan and his wife Brenda of Methuen, Pamela Miller and her husband Paul of Stoneham and the late Brian Keenan. Father in law of Teri Amuzzini of Randolph. Brother of Therese Martin of Florida, and the late Thomas Keenan, Dorothy Molinari, Marie Ferranti, Katherine Pagano, George and Edward Keenan. Dear grandfather of Christopher, Kristen, Alison, Brian, and Matthew. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling hours Friday 4-8 pm at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville. A Funeral Home Service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 am followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. For more information please visit

I was saddened to hear of Scrapper passing. I still remember the many stories he would tell .He wasn`t just an old friend but one of the funniest man I ever knew (back in the 1950`s)RIP old friend.Harold Pennington
