It's heartbreaking to loose such a lovely man and good friend. Your generosity of spirit, puckish wit, brilliant mind, and warmth remain with me--a friend for all time. I remember the lunchbox--hope you don't! Rest in peace, Cyrano. Lee

Thank you all for your kind words. It is great to hear from friends of John's and neighbors of ours in Los Alamos.
The memorial service will be on January 30th at 2:00 at the Unitarian Universalist church in Gloucester, MA.
To answer the question about a donation in John's name, his wife says that he would have liked it to go to Doctors without Borders.
Thank you all. Virginia Lazarus

I'm so very sorry to hear of this. I remember so fondly the time I spent in your beautiful home in the mid-90s when I was job-hunting in Boston. John (and all of you) were wonderfully kind to me. Is there a place I can make a donation in his memory?
Love, Cindy (Weaver) McLaughlin

I was fortunate to be in the same Ross Ramsey's english class at LAHS. He was very bright and intuitive about many of the readings. I was not only humbled by his insight (and that of several others in the class)but also by how easy it seemed for him. He was active in many outdoor adventure programs and I was jealous when he told me about them because I was a girl and couldn't be part of the Explorers. What a guy, my priveledge to know him a wee bit.

The Boyer's (6 kids) lived down a few houses on 35th St. in Los Alamos from the Lazerai during the 50's and 60's. They were great neighbors and we had many adventures with them while growing up. John was several years older than I, but I recall he was one of the neighborhood "elders" who would be sure us kids remained within bounds as we ran around exploring, having fun and creating mischief. Great Family, all of them. My sincere condolences.

My wife and I are privileged to be next-door neighbors to John and Martha. We are deeply saddened at the tragic passing of such a gifted and caring man, someone who always had time to extend a friendly greeting. John and his wife Martha dramatically renovated and transformed their house and property into a beautiful and loving home, one that was clearly intended to accommodate visits from his beloved children and grandchildren. We and his other neighbors here in Gloucester will miss him, and our hearts go out to Martha and his entire family for their loss.
