McCORKLE, John J. "Jack" Age 76, of Norwood and Popponesset, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer on Friday, March 31, 2023. Jack was born in Dorchester on May 19, 1946 to Boston Fire Lieutenant John and Mary (Leary) McCorkle. Beloved husband of Rita (Pembroke); and loving father of John III and his fiancee, Kristen, of Walpole, Patricia "Tricia" of Norwood, Maura and her husband, Andrew Brown, of Norwood, and Michael of South Boston. He was the proud "Pops" to his cherished grandchildren, Winnie, A.J., and Pippa Brown and John Joseph IV and Colin Robert McCorkle. Devoted brother of Joanne Edwards and her husband, Jerome, of Palm Coast, FL, Louise McManus and her late husband, George, of West Roxbury and Elizabeth of Braintree. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and best friend, Jack Graham, who all brought such joy to his life. Jack was an avid Boston sports fan and loved spending his summers in Popponesset on the deck with family and friends. Funeral from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A), NORWOOD, on Wednesday, April 5, at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 4 from 4-8 PM.
