Carol McCorkle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Egan-Ryan Funeral Service - Northwest Chapel on Mar. 28, 2026.
Carol Jean McCorkle passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 25, 2026.

She was born April 21, 1959 in Columbus, OH to Marshall and Lavaria McCorkle.

Carol was an alumna of Linden-McKinley High School, Cottey College, Ohio Dominican University and Franklin University. She was a longtime bookkeeper, most recently at Continental Message Solution, and known for her incredible work ethic.

She was a devoted, active member of Sharon Woods Church where she had many, many friends. Carol was a member of PEO Chapter DH for several decades and incredibly passionate about helping women continue their education.

Aunt Carol dearly loved her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Their presence brought her great comfort in her final days.

Carol was a gentle soul, a woman of quiet strength, deep faith and a warm, generous heart that touched all who knew her. She found joy in life's simple blessings-time spent with family, meaningful conversations with friends and the comfort of being present for the people she loved most. As an avid reader, she was well known for always having a great book recommendation at the ready. A cup of strong, black coffee and something sweet were never far from her reach.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her steady presence and the grace with which she lived her life. Carol's legacy is one of love, compassion and quiet devotion to those around her.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Lavaria McCorkle; brother Stephen McCorkle; and sister Mary (James) Purcell.

Carol is survived by her sister Susan (Richard) Sweazy; nieces Anita McLain and Megan (Mark) Caral; nephews Stephen Sweazy and Timothy (Casey) Purcell; great-nieces Leah (Trevor), Rachael, Bonnie, Jayden, Stella, Deirdre and Baby Purcell arriving May 2026; great-nephews Nicholas and James Patrick.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 2 from 4:00 - 7:00pm at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

A celebration of life will take place at Sharon Woods Church on Friday, April 3 at 11:30am before interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at 1:00pm.

Friends are invited to donate to charities Carol supported throughout her life in lieu of sending flowers: Cottey College (supported by PEO) and LOSS Community Services.
