JOHN FRANCIS O'KEEFFE

O'KEEFFE, John Francis Of Norwood, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on September 28, 2024, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Cecilia A. (Murgia) O'Keeffe. Devoted father of Michael S. O'Keeffe of Weymouth. Son of the late Thomas A. O'Keeffe and Mary C. (Crowley) O'Keeffe. Brother of Kathleen Skelly of Needham and the late Mary Seely, Thomas, Richard and Paul O'Keeffe. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a decorated United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, serving from 1966-1969. After the war, he graduated from UMass Boston with a degree in Accounting. He worked for many years as an Auditor for the Massachusetts State Auditors Office, until his retirement. John was a member of the Boston Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, as well as a ham radio operator (N1OEF), volunteering for many years with local emergency preparedness drills. He was an avid reader and stamp collector as a member of the Vatican Philatelic Society. John loved to spend his summers at the family cabin in Vermont, enjoying the tranquility of the pond. Visiting Hours will be held October 17, 2024, from 4 to 8pm, at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., NORWOOD, MA. A Funeral Home Service will be held on October 18, 2024, at 10am. Family will meet at the Massachusetts National Cemtery, Connery Blvd., Bourne, MA, at 1:45pm, for a Graveside Service and USMC Military Funeral Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Fisher House Foundation, Inc. or Home Base to support veterans and their families.
