Today 4/24/2025 I made a $100 Donation to the Headstrong Project in Memory of John Alden Pope in Recognition of his Selfless Courage displayed during the Vietnam War. His service as a Green Beret in Vietnam was critical to the Freedom of citizens of the United States of America. God Bless John A Pope and his family. May he Rest in Heavenly Peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this Sad Time in their lives.

A most fortunate friendship
My friend, I will miss our conversations. The first, our introduction, an inauguration of our friendship; a foursome at Essex, an ECC v. Myopia matchup. The conversation throughout that afternoon hike, chockfull of philosophy, politics, some mild-intelligence, though mostly the purest levels of school-boy silly.
Somewhere along our trek this friend offered a phrase, a word, one familiar, a descendant of our shared distant time and place. You turned to me and asked: "When were you In-Country, and where?" The exchange, the beginning of our most fortunate friendship.
Siste Viator my friend. Thank you for your devoted quiet Ignatian service to others.

I happily remember John from New Hampton. His zeal for life and always supportive attitude were contagious. I will always have fond memories of him. I feel privileged to be a part of his life, if only for a year. Thank John!

Dear Nancy,
The entire Rice family (John, Jack, George, Jamie, and myself) were so sad to hear of John's passing. He was delightful, and always fun to talk to, especially on the sidelines of a Villanova game where he cheered on each and every player with an infectious enthusiasm. He will be missed. We share our deepest condolences with you and your family.
Our prayers and best wishes are with you,
Laura Rice

Roger and I are so sorry to learn of John's sudden passing. We were friends from Lime Street and have many good memories! Sadly, we cannot be at the service as we will be on an airplane from Florida. We would truly like to be there. Sending love to all the Popes. Judy.

John and I became good friends through a shared love of golf at TCC. More importantly, we often had lunch together and I would listen with interest to his " Liberal " views! We were even scheduled to lunch the day before he passed. John was a truly good man and I am honored to have been his friend,

I've known John and his family since my brother and his oldest son were in nursery school together. We had several joint birthday parties for the boys as they were born only 2 days apart. I have many fond memories of John, especially the time he had the chance to bring me with his son, John, to a Guns'N'Roses concert at the Boston Garden! Since we've all grown up and have families of our own now, I haven't seen him in many years, but, he will always hold a special place in my heart. John, you were a great man, and you will be missed by all who ever met you. love, Elaine T. Nichols
