JOHN RENNIE Obituary

RENNIE, John U.S. Marine Corps 1936-2018. Of Norwood and Falmouth passed away on March 20, 2018 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Deborah S. (Martin) Rennie. Devoted father of Deborah J. Jernegan and her husband Clifford of Edgartown, Nancy E. Webster and her husband Kenneth of Norfolk and Julie S. Gelerman and her husband Edward of Canton. Loving brother of Alex B. Rennie and his wife Virginia of Falmouth.

Cherished grandfather of Laura, Alex and his wife Eva, Katie, K.C., Ella, Andrew, Jack, and Meghan.

John graduated in 1954 from Boston Trade High School and then served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp. and received his Master's in Mechanics. He started his career as a technician at EG&G and retired as a Vice President from FM Global. John graduated from Northeastern University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

John served locally and globally on several committees including the U. S. National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission, the Instrument Society of America Standards and Practices and the ANSI Federation. In addition, he served as a member and chair on the Town of Norwood Permanent Building Construction Committee and the Norwood Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

In his life and career, John traveled for work and pleasure in over 48 countries and throughout the U. S. He appreciated good food and loved sharing his appreciation by hosting and cooking for family and friends. The 4th of July was always a favorite holiday where many would come to enjoy dinner and watch the fireworks in Falmouth. John also loved hiking, camping, golf, racketball, tennis, skiing and boating as well as traveling to restaurants throughout the world.

John Rennie will be remembered as a loving husband, incredible father and grandfather, respected colleague and coworker, and trusted friend.

An internment will be held at Highland Cemetery, Norwood MA on June 30th at 11:00 a.m.
